folks,

i think i'm in a good mood so here we go... it's been insanely busy past weeks... oh boy... it actually started out with GEBURTSTAGE SCHWEINEREI (the name says it all really)... the birthday party of [info]cayman_x 's brother David and some other people... that's where these two beautiful pics were taken (we don't really look like this, a connaisseur will immediately recognise my photoshop skills)...

great night out... last week on monday [info]cayman_x and Lopsy joined up for Stroppen (our weekly outdoor activity aka booze and live music and for singles amongst us: womenwatching) but it was raining so we went for a drink @ Zenzibar... Dieter came up with the idea of going to the Q - party with guest dj: SVEN ORNELIS HELL YEAH!!! fruitcake songs whole night long... slightly drunk but yet full of energy we got home at like 4 o clock in the morning... that counts for a monday evening i think... tuesday we had a day off... lucky us... but the party week had started!!... another dull day at work on wednesday and then left for Pukkelpop... saw great bands like Roni Size, Coheed and Cambria, Dresden Dolls, Hawthorne Heights, Morningwood, Panic! at the disco (who were totally amazing), Rise and fall, Officer Jones and his patrol car problems, Death before Disco, Daft Punk, the Pipettes (great band)  and tons of other bands we just saw partly or just passed by while playing... three days of relaxing with liquid breakfest included!...

i'm quite tired tonight and Daya is coming over in a few hours so i should get ready...

keep anoying your parents and till the next time

bonjour tout le monde,

once again it has been a while since i made my last post... but i've been doing great... tired and a lot of work but i've been having fun as well... summer's in town and there's no way i want back winter... festivals and outdoor drinking... what do you want more... i'm one happy camper and i think most people here in summer... i just love it... although it's raining outside... it's been 3 weeks i guess... summer rains the best... if i wouldn't be as tired from last nights evening in Halle i would be jumping around in the rain...

but the actual reason why i'm posting i coz dieter intalled the new photoshop on the computer last week... addicted as i am i can't stop shopping the photo's... so here goes:

current mood: calm

basically any excuse is good to get waisted but birthday parties are always better... friday night i went down to see my good friend Tom in Vichte (which is an unknown village somewhere in Flanders :)).... it was his 24th birthday so he decided to organize a bbq since the weather these days is absolutely amazing... it's like 500 degrees out there... every party (as we all know) involves a lot of drinking so Tom got us about twelve types of beer some of which i never heard of... but they appeared to down very smooth as well :p... there were people i haven't seen since my Ghent days!! which was awesome to see them back after 4 or 5 years... Although i didn't understand much of the dialect they were talking i managed to have a great time... oh well let's go straight to the pictures then:

i had a pretty positive jobinterview on thursday... hopefully i'll have a similar interview on tuesday... so i can combine two jobs... would be great... and i can move to Gent again...

life's a circle...

alright dudes and dudettes,

i feel a bit sceptic writing here again to be honest... don't know what convinced me actually... (and nooo it's not you dieter :))... oh wel here we go then: what have i been up to last 2 months... nothing special really... you know that might be one of the reasons i gave up on this... i think i've seen the big black blimp everyone is talking about when you get back from something exciting... the last month has been worse then ever... when i'm not working i'm either sick (three times already people) or i just moan my way from bed to the tv... not that there's anything on... really, even tv is letting us down!!... i would like to express my feelings towards the makers of Big Brother and the people that ar in it: YOU SUCK and GET A LIFE... that last bit also refers to the people who watch this nonsense... oh well at this stage i could hate anything...

so let's move on... the last two months i also had like 5416 jobs... which really pisses me off because you can't get to know the people at work, they always yell at you cause you don't work fast enough on your first day, you know the usual... in the meanwhile i've been writing letters to mayor companies here in Belgium who sell hearing aids... the only one that ever responded was some dude in holland for christ sake!... so i went down there which took me 10 hours on the train and just the second theyy asked me to work on trial i refused cause it was too far away... so that pisses me off as well... no one responds to these damn letters... so for now i'm filling pots of glue in a tiny little factory... which is awesome...

ow yeah (and this is my light in my life): i've got a new girlfriend (for about two months now)... and things are going great although we haven't got that much time to see eachother cause she's a student in Gent and i'm working here @ Sint Genesius Rode City... where things happen!... which brings me to my next exciting topic: i'm i going back to school again??!? who knows... this also pisses me off... i have no clue what to do in the future... travel? school? try and find work as an "audiologist"? (sounds scary doesn't it?)... every day in this godforsaken town makes me more eager to go travelling again... Asia in particular...

speaking of which: my parents are off to the US of A... they've been gone for about two weeks now and will be back in 2 days... the fun's over... although we had some good moments...

and i bought a Canon Eos 300D, a new beautiful electric guitar, and of course to finish this all: a new amp... we went to Groezrock which was amazing (Death by Stereo, Me first and the gimmie gimmies, Bad religion, Raised Fist, Anti Flag, and tons of local violence)... got drunk way too much...

so who's saying i'm not an optimist...

official fool of the day *drumsounds although the answer is very clear* : ME

walking through a crowd of non moving people wondering what they were doing... it was kinda odd cause everyone was placed randomly over the place... it appeared to be a filmset and they were recording a commercial for a local radio station i think... so i'm on tape... everyone yelling at me for christsake... for no reason at all... stupid commercials... me in it would've made it hilarious...

that's it
goodnight/goodbye

12:46 pm
and we're back in Melbourne... Paul left me last night... he's off to Sydney for a wedding... that means i'm all alone in this scary big city :)... it kinda feels like we never left this place although it's must be 6 months since we left... the busride was quite ok considering we spend 48hours on a train... i met this girl from Antwerp... oh and i forgot to mention that on top of some waterfall in Kakadu NP i met some people that live about 1km from where i live... for Sint Genesius rode lovers: they were from 7 Fontaines... what are the odds...

so Melbourne... mmm... i was freezing yesterday... everyone was running around in t-shirts and i had to wear a nice and warm jumper...

and i'm trying to go to Tazzie for about 6 days... i found out that the tickets are dirtcheap... 69 dollars for a single flight... and i would like to go from Hobart along the west coast to Launceston... no idea how that is going to happen because i don't wanna book a silly tour... but i think you should live your life dangerously so i'll probably fly over and see what's happening... i was talking to this lady from this booking office this morning and she goes like this:

she: do you know anything about Tazzie?
me: not really
she: have you been to Queensland?
me: yes i have been there
she: tazzie is not like surfers paradise... beaches and parties...
and she starts giving me this speech about surfers and such... she was like judging me for being some kind of brainless party animal... grrrr...

yesterday i was counting the days i have left in Oz and it's less than i thought it would be... i just got one month left... what's a month?? i've been here 10 months since yesterday and i celebrated with pizza and going to bed at 10 'o clock... best party ever...

so i'll be meeting up with the girls tonight for elly's B-day party somewhere in Northcote... looking forward to see everyone again...

for more news: just wait :)

so we made it to Adelaide... after 48 hours on the train... the stop in Alice Springs was quite boring... brought back so many bad memories :)... Adelaide's cool... nice atmosphere, bars, people, whatever... but it's just a city like any other so we're leaving tonight (in about 2hours to be exact) for Melbourne... we'll arrive tomorrow morning at 7... i'll try and go Tasmania for a week but we'll see how much it'll cost me...

that's it i guess... almost home :)...

and how are you?

(ow i bought a coheed and cambria live dvd today jeeeeejj!! i'lll miss them playing in belgium on the 11th of january... grrrr)

12:57 pm - Melville round II
so, i'm back on the mainland again since three days... worked sixteen days straight although we slacked the last 6 days... the pruning is over and i work for a different company now called Sylvatech... we get paid way much better than working for Specialist Weed Control... about AUD 5 more... and basically what we do is burn massive woodrows... it's actually quite spectacular... i think we'll be planting trees as well... we're just doing random jobs on the island... like we built a sprinklersystem for a nursery for the trees... i can drive a tractor now, 4WDs, troopys, you name it and i can drive it :)... it's so much fun...

what else happened... the humidity is reaching new levels... we're facing a 92% humidity and temperatures rising up to 50 degrees... no need to take showers... the rainseason has started quite intense... we had an electrical storm... the worst i have ever seen... everything was shaking cause of the thunder... everyone was scared :)... a few guys had a lightning striking 10 feet away from them... appearantly Darwin is the place on earth with the most lightning strikes a year... the most they ever counted was about 3000 an hour!!... in like five minutes a dirtroad changes into a river...

once again we saw a few scary spiders but still no signs of buffalos... the last day of the pruning we all went to the beach near town... you wouldn't believe how it felt to see a beach and ocean again... and my last day working for Sylvatech we went to the beach as well and there were some Tiwi (local aboriginals) people camping out... they are so different than what you see here in town... very nice and open people... the women cooked us freshly catched mussels on a bonfire... i think we saw most of the island now...

i'll be working here til the beginning of december... that should save me some money...

and i think there might be people who are interested in Missy Higgins: she was awesome!!! the first girl who played was fantastic too (i don't remember her name but i think it was something like Howie blablabla)... unfortunately there was Ben Lee as a second warm up... jesus i can't stand that guy... but Missy made it all good again... i had frontrow tickets so waaaaw... you could clearly tell there's not so many big artists p[laying in Darwin... everyone was out there... the amphitheatre was packed...

that's it i think... i'm flying back to the island on friday for another 12 day shift so talk to you later and take care!!

10:53 am - Melville island
goodmeurning everyone,

4 days ago i got back from the island... and i must say it was an experience... we took of on tuesday two weeks ago... we flew out at sunrise... i've never seen such beauty... the sun is so much bigger over here... a big red balloon rising up at the horizon... we flew with a Cessna 310 (info for my dad :)) which means we all had seats at a window... a half an hour flight took us over the swamps and delta of Darwin... at sunrise... once landed we got introduced to the camp rules - getting up at 5am, bus leaves at 6 so be there!!... prepare lunch and off to the field... we were pruning acacias from 25cms high up to 5m high... two teams: manual and electric shear team... i started of in manual and you can still see the remains... 2 blisters on each finger and a wrist that is twice the size than before i left... a few days later i got upgraded to electrics... one push on the button but very big trees...

so we worked 11 hours a day in temperatures pushing 50 degrees... to european standards that is quite a lot... we had one day when it was 53 degrees... on the other hand the food was the best i ate so far in Oz... we saw wild horses, redbacks, trapdoor spiders, every type of insect i think, and the most impressive thing were the twisters called "willy willy" rising up 200m from the ground and picking everything thats loose on the ground... the atmosphere was just awesome... 50 backpackers from over the world on a (almost) deserted island... at night after work everyone sat outside talking and having a beer or whatever...

all my sympathy goes out to Maaike (a german girl) who cut off her finger on her last day...

and for the rest: I'M OFF GO AND SEE MISSY HIGGINS TONIGHT IN GARDENS AMPHITHEATRE WOOOHOOOOO
(and i'm going back to the island tomorrow morning :( for another 16 days)

so talk to you later
starting to miss you all :)
love
